 The Vision

CHIEF

Chief is an updated calling to our narrative as co-creators of our reality and an invitation to connect through shared experience as we evolve in life/art. In an era where everyone is a "boss", a chief serves rather than commands and shares through communion so that elevation can begin within. The esoteric is presented through the daily challenges, practices, and observations of our current gritty, contradictory, beautiful, urban landscapes. Similar to the guidance a shaman provides through song when one experiences entheogens, Chief chariots the listener through many portals of experience expressed in the world throughout time; ritual, sacrifice, prophecy, reflection, and even ascension all through a very Brooklyn, "God body", indigo-child, stoner lens. Chief is urban shaman meets stoner sophisticate with a message that everything you do has meaning and context gives this meaning purpose.

Before dispensaries and corporate licenses, there were weed spots.

Quiet places built on trust, word of mouth, and community — where people protected the culture and each other.

Some things shouldn’t be forgotten.

Bring back weed spots.

Recorded mostly in a haze in the brotherly city, this full-bodied work is meant to be enjoyed with the process and imbibement of a sturdy spliff. Historical rumor whispers that jazz was once slang for the devil’s lettuce. ahwlee’s jazz-imbued compositions pair with grit and stab from Cavalier, with lojii co-piloting much of the journey.

This is Thug Jazz — a moody, melodic ride coloring the layered world of the lonely stoner.

This EP will first live in the hands of those who tap into the drop. Access is reserved for those who secure the hoodie — a direct-to-listener exchange that keeps the experience close and intentional. From there, more doors open… invitations, moments, and offerings that extend beyond the garment.

The Bring Back Weed Spots idea is one you can wrap yourself in, literally. An EP you wear, with its message carried in each breath.

Light your torch. Cover yourself. Get fully engulfed.

Presenting the “Bring Back Weed Spots” statement hoodie.

Lifted from Cavalier’s nostalgic Brooklyn ode, “Reprise”, the mantra has become a signifier to a whole ideology. As cannabis prohibition shifts in the United States, we are still confronted with challenges of fair market access, inclusivity and criminal record expungement.

“The legalization of marijuana is not a dangerous experiment – the prohibition is the experiment, and it has failed dramatically, with millions of victims all around the world.”― Sebastian Marincolo

What happens to the black market vendors and those who laid the groundwork for cannabis legalization? The so-called Hippy generation? Those who shaped a whole cannabis culture across America and are now at the mercy of large corporate and state driven interests?

Can we trust the same parties who took action against cannabis culture to administer its access fairly and freely?

Those questions and ideas followed me after making the statement “we need to bring back weed spots” and this organic cotton statement piece was made with intention and care to further inspire this dialog.
